Cathleen Horan, MS, MSW
I have a passion for helping individuals, families and couples alleviate suffering and find meaning, purpose and equanimity. I begin by establishing a strong therapeutic relationship with you by offering a warm, non judgemental and inclusive environment. This relationship serves as the basis from which work can begin. Whatever you bring to therapy--behaviors, mood disorders, thoughts, addictions, fear of change, old patterns and defenses--I work collaboratively with you from a strengths based perspective to help you tap into and build resilience for change and growth.

I have worked with teenagers and emerging adults in high school settings and with young adults and adults in both inpatient and outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment programs before starting my private practice in 2008.

Why seek therapy?
1
Feeling stuck, struggling with mood or anxiety, identifying problems and roadblocks, sorting through old dynamics that might be holding you back, complications in relationships (parent, child, adult child, spouse, partner), feelings of overwhelm and, most importantly, being in a warm space that is all yours for you to explore.

What about medication?
I do NOT prescribe medication but if medication is something that is needed, I can refer you to a psychiatrist or your own primary care physician for further evaluation with my input.
How long does therapy last?
3
This is driven by you: You decide when you want to discontinue based on how you feel about the work we are doing together. I see people for long periods for ongoing maintenance and also work using a short term dynamic model focused on actionable goals.
How does telehealth therapy work?
2
I will send you a link for your computer or phone that you can click to join a live session where we will both be on camera. I also use telephone sessions if that is easier for you.
